Invaders of the Heart

I stopped in last night at the dress rehearsal for Invader's of the Heart, Pomegranate Studio's 2010 showcase featuring the work of some talented belly dancers. Under the direction of Myra Krien (top), who also performs, these dancers are just beautifully clad (mostly) and amazing! The show is at the James A. Little Theatre in Santa Fe. Friday and Saturday, March 19th and 20th at 7:30 pm.

If you would like to see more of my photographs you can click here to be transported to my flickr page. Enjoy!

Pole Dancing With a Difference

I am so blessed to have such amazing friends who send me such wondrous goodies I can share. You know, of course, anything to do with dancing and/or animals will get a stellar spot on the blog. Turn up the sound, in-joy and keep dancin'!

Gotta Dance!

Times like these I just wish I wouldda kept hoofin'. But still, it's great to watch. They make it look so easy, not a pant between the two (except for Fred's). Frank Sinatra narrates, while Eleanor Powell and Fred Astaire dance.
Wow... Is all I can say.

Water Flowing Together Link

And here's the link. Oops!   Incidentally, most of my posts  have the link attached to the title as well. Just in case I space...

Water Flowing Together

Our local PBS station aired a wonderful documentary last night from their Independent Lens series called, Water Flowing Together (named for the Navajo clan of which Jock, through his mother, is a part). Even if you are not interested in dance, if you are into inspiration, you may want to check this out. Gwendolen Cates did a wonderful job portraying his story.

You can find out more about Jock and the film here. Here's a screen grab from part of the film, a mini version of which can also be viewed at the aforementioned link. Jock Soto is the boy standing to the right of Peter Martins, NYC Ballet's Artistic Director (I believe that's his title). At the age of 14 or so Jock was one of the last recruits to the company by the late George Balanchine. From what I could see Jock embodies all of what a great and true dancer is: Spirit, Grace, Strength, Discipline, Determination, Collaboration; and did I say, Spirit and Grace? Wow. Enjoy!
