Welcome! You have landed at my blog, Bird's Eye View, which is a nest for my photography, writing, art, and design, mostly created in the beautiful mountains of northern New Mexico; recipes, and a bit of my journey with essential oils. This blog also reflects my desire to climb off the poop deck, and into the crows' nest for the full 360º. You can find links to my work below. To contact me, please scroll to the end of the sidebar.

Those of you who know me probably know I am the unofficial neem spokeswoman and I will extol the virtues of this tree to anyone who will listen. If you'd like to learn more about neem this is a wonderful book (pictured below). Here's the description: The neem tree, one of the most promising of all plants, may eventually benefit every person on the planet. Probably no other plant yields as many varied products or has as many exploitable by-products. Indeed, as foreseen by some scientists, this tree may usher in a new era in pest control; provide millions with inexpensive medicines; cut the rate of population growth; and perhaps even reduce erosion, deforestation, and the excessive temperature of an overheated globe.

This is an excellent documentary which aired on PBS July 2008 regarding the burning of the Indonesian rain forests. It profiles Dorjee Sun, an innovator who has a unique approach to carbon emissions and the plight of the farmers within these countries. You can watch it on line or buy the DVD from PBS. A neighbor friend called me to see if I wanted to come and view her night blooming cereus. "It only blooms for one night and then it's gone", she said as I ran out the door with the point-and-shoot. This sprawly plant is a desert native and this particular one is a relative of one Georgia O'Keeffe had. It was the first time I'd seen one, just spectacular, and the fragrance was divine.

“. . . Have patience with everything unresolved in your heart and try to love the questions themselves. . . don't search for the answers. . . the point is to live everything. Live the questions now. Let the beauty we love be what we do.
There are hundreds of ways to kneel and kiss the ground.”
